Born Joubite Dessalines in Chaln, near Miragoâne, Haiti, K-Dilak Mesaje discovered his passion for music during his youth. Initially drawn to freestyle rap, he joined the neighborhood hip-hop collective RAS around 2008. After relocating to Carrefour, he left the group in 2016 to pursue a solo career, gaining recognition with “Pa Gad Ale’m,” followed by “Papa Ede m,” “Y’ap Kenbe,” and “Tou Prè Mwen.”
K-Dilak expanded his profile in 2017 through “Yo Ale” with Mikaben, addressing the migration of skilled Haitians. His songwriting later turned increasingly toward relationships and everyday experiences, producing songs such as “M Pap Pran Sa Nan Menw,” “M Pap Padone’w” and “Ban’m Verite.”
In 2019, his partnership with Bedjine began with “Fo Pwomes.” Their subsequent releases, including “Pouki’n Te Marye,” “Engra,” “Pwomèt Mwen,” and “Move Chofè,” established them as a prominent pairing in contemporary Haitian music.
K-Dilak’s achievements include being named MAGHAITI’s Best Male Artist of 2020, alongside recognition from Ticket Magazine, Ayiti Biyografi, and the Prestigious Haitian Music Awards.
In 2024, K-Dilak and Bedjine released their 16-track debut collaborative album, “MISYON AKONPLI,” featuring “Konsekans,” “Met Rido,” “Woulib” and “Ou Gou.” Continuing his international recognition, K-Dilak earned two nominations at the 2025 Music Video Africa Awards, reinforcing his growing presence beyond Haiti.
